Arusha is the capital of the region of the same name in Tanzania, Africa. The site of the city is near several national parks and the site of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest African mountain, and hosts the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. As a tourist destination, Arusha is not of any particular interest, but it works perfectly as a springboard from which to visit other tourist sites in the region. Travel to Arusha now and bolster your 2015 Tanzania tours and activities with a trip to the city.
Travel to Moshi, an hour of driving away from Arusha, and go on an Amani Children’s Home and Village Visit. Here you’ll get to see the Amani Children’s Home and its inhabitants, the street children of Tanzania. Amani provides a safe and carefully managed home environment for the children, who have been abandoned for various reasons including poverty, illness, family problems, and even abuse. Alone on the street, the children become vulnerable to exploitation and hunger, as well as lacking access to healthcare. Amani provides them an escape from this life, and presents them with educational facilities, and emotional support as well. Donors have recently helped build a new school here, which will allow more children to be helped.
Embark on an Arusha Village Experience in Tengeru, just a short 20 minute bus ride away from the city. Here you will get to walk through narrow village roads and learn about the daily lives of locals. Witness the harvest of coffee and crops, then have lunch with a family in their own home. You will be able to learn about their traditions, customs, and culture here, while also getting a chance to sample Tanzanian cuisine. After lunch, you’ll get to try making your own coffee, in the roasting and grinding of coffee beans, then sample your creation.
