Art savant Jose Lázaro Galdiano sought many fine and applied art gems from different parts of the world; the state acquiring all these after his death. Thus a wide-ranging collection of paintings and objects from the 6th to the 20th centuries, amassed in the mansion of the late editor-financier and beloved art patron, now resides in this famous museum.
