Piazza Navona's three fountains, Fontana del Moro, Fontana di Nettuno and Bernini's Fontana dei Fiumi are clearly the centerpiece of Rome's most popular city square. The name can be misleading since Navona Square is actually a long oval built on top of the ruins of the Stadium of Domition where ancient Romans used to watch games and races during the first century. Today, Piazza Navona is a bustling spot lined with churches, antique shops, Renaissance houses and palaces and cafes.
