Visit the Temple of the Fire Worshippers, built on a site where natural gas emanates from the ground. In ancient times, this temple had fire dramatically burning from spouts built into its structure and believed to have given Azerbaijan its name which is interpreted as “a land of fires.”
The temple was restored in the 18th century and has cells where pilgrims from all over the world spend the night. Examine the inscriptions on the walls learn of the Indian origin of the temple. Today, the site hosts a museum containing a set of unique and original exhibits about the site.
