Cycle Tour of Bali 11 Days / 10 Nights - Private tour

Starting in Ubud, Bali's cultural capital, we will explore the famous Batur Crater and swim in the Toyah Bungkah Hot Springs. We will also visit the island's two highest volcanoes and various canyons.

Along the way, you will be able to take in great coastal views and explore small fishing villages around Amed on the east coast. During the down time, you can take advantage of snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities if you so choose.

The tour concludes with a series of breathtaking trails alongside Mount Agung through shady bamboo and coconut groves to the rice paddy fields that Bali is famous for. During the last days of the tour you will also get a chance to cycle through the ruins of a water palace at Jungutan and explore Besakih Temple, the most important and largest temple on the island.

RIDING PROFILE
This trip is recommended for riders with some off-road experience, but you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy it. The only real requirement is a sense of adventure!
Although this tour only covers around 240 kilometers in 6 full and 2 half cycling days, it can still be quite challenging. Because flat land in Bail is almost non-existent, the experience is made up entirely of off-road excursions on a series of challenging surfaces including forest trails, red mud hard-pack, volcanic sand, lava cobbles, gravel and broken tarmac roads. There are sections of single-track in every ride, but no long rocky or rooty sections or big drops. As far as gradients are concerned, all the trails except one have an overall down-hill element to them (in other words they finish at a lower altitude than the start). A few steep ascents and descents are also part of the program, but these are normally short and sharp.

ITINERARY
Day 1 Ngurah Rai Airport - Sanur 0 km [Dinner]
Arrive in Bali and transfer to our hotel in Sanur and after unwinding from your flight, start assembling your bike.

Day 2 Batur Crater Day Ride 35 km [Breakfast, Lunch]
Ride the rim of the Batur Crater and enjoy lunch and have a swim at the Toyah Bungkah Hot Springs.

Day 3 Abang - East coast 35 km [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]
After a ride inside the interior of the Batur Crater, a climb up to a mountain pass, an exhilarating descent down dry river beds takes to the east coast.

Day 4 Pidpid - Perasi 35 km [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]
A network of single track paths leads us around the side of Mt. Agung through villages to the ruins of a water palace.
Day 5 Jungutan – Muncan 20 km [Breakfast]
Hit the slopes of Mt. Agung with spectacular views along the south coast before descending along a ridge.

Day 6 Free day in Ubad 0 km [Breakfast]
Today is a rest, ride or raft day from our base in Ubud.

Day 7 Candikuning - Wongayagede 35-40 km [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]
Start at a bustling market and ride to a picturesque caldera lake with time to visit Batukaru temple.

Day 8 Buyan - Subuk 35 km [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]
Explore the central volcanoes by riding small trails through the pristine sub-tropical rain forest which borders a lake.

Day 9 Boat trip to Menjangan Island 20 km [Breakfast, Lunch]
A short gentle ride takes us to our boat to catch a ride to the remote island of Menjangan for some snorkeling.

Day 10 Transit and free day 0 km [Breakfast, Dinner]
This morning we transit back across the island to the South Coast our final destination, Legian.

Day 11 Onward Travel 0 km [Breakfast]
Time to pack up your bikes before onward travel.

Number of cycling days - Six full days and two half days
Road Surface - This tour is pre-dominantly off road on a mix of vehicle-width dirt trails and singletrack, which way be smooth, gritty, stony, rocky rutted, loose or hard-packed.
Support - A Ford Ranger pick-up truck adapted to take a max. no of 11 bikes and 4 people. Additional Kijiang for remaining passengers. 50% back-up cover.
Group - Minimum 4. Maximum 10.
Staff - Groups will be led by our local guide and our local support team. Larger group will also have a cycling assistant.
Accommodations - 10 nights in 3 star accommodation. At the coast there will be air-conditioning, en-suite facilities and a swimming pool. Whenever possible we try to use hotels with charm and local character.
Food - All meals are included from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 11, expect dinner on day 2, 5, 6 and 9 and lunch on day 5, 6, and 10.
Children - Children under 18-years old are not allowed to join this tour.
