About Bangkok Wat Suthat and the Giant Swing

Started in 1807 by Rama I and eventually completed by his two successors, Wat Suthat is an assembly of several impressive religious structures. It is famous for the excellent murals found in the main building, along with the collection of gilded Buddha images in the viharn. Priests used to ride the Giant Swing as part of a Hindu ceremony, but the practiced was stopped in 1935 due to the danger it brings.
