We meet at Sapan Thaksin Pier, to take the "River Express" the start of Bangkok's only way to avoid the traffic. Rather than hop on the boat straight away, we’ll start with a little walk up onto the bridge above the pier and capture some bird’s eye shots of Bangkok's architecture and busy river, the Chao Praya. We’ll proceed to take the boat to Tha Phra Chang Pier. On the boat you will already have some great opportunities to photograph life / architecture on the river banks. The tour focuses primarily on the area know as "Ratanakosin Island".
When we get of the boat and walk towards the main road we’ll be facing Bangkok’s busiest tourist spot: The Grand Palace, we, however will take one small turn away form the tourist crowd and just over 100 meters away we will end up in one of the most bustling and fascinating parts of the city; home to traditional shop houses, 3 universities, street food everywhere and one of Bangkok’s most interesting markets, the amulet market. We will walk down the road and into small alleyways and witness Bangkokians’ everyday life as well as get a glimpse of Wat Mahathat's Buddhist university/monastery. Time for a cool drink!
We’ll then proceed to Tha Thien Pier and cross the river to Wat Arun, the temple of dawn to get a different view of Ratanakosin and see some different architecture. We’ll then cross back over to Tha Thien and browse through a couple of small markets there and follow that with a visit of Wat Po, the temple of the reclining Buddha.
A coffee / cool drink break at a lovely riverside cafe and we proceed to Paak Klong Talaad market, one of the oldest food markets in Bangkok and also home to the flower market.
We’ll follow that with a Tuk Tuk ride to the Golden Mount, Wat Saket a temple perched on Bangkok’s highest hill for some views of old and new Bangkok. From there we will walk through some of the most interesting streets in Bangkok on our way to "Sao Tching Chaa", an area know for it’s Buddha statue workshops and artisans, very few tourist get to see this fascinating yet very photogenic area. We end the tour with a tuk tuk ride back to Tha Phra Chang Pier next to the Grand Palace.
