What To Expect
Central Thailand's fertile plains has long been the heart of the Siamese empire, a land with abundant waterways feeding the rich soil, and a history of both prosperity and turmoil.
We explore this fascinating area by bicycle, starting with the floating market and a boat tour through a network of canals, followed by a ride across open countryside through an array of plantations, orchards, rice paddies and temples.
The next stop is Kanchanaburi, where we visit the infamous River Kwai bridge and war museum, explore caves, bike trails though lush forests to a historic temple, and enjoy a cooling dip under a clear waterfall.
The final destination is Ayutthaya, Siam's ancient capital from the 14th century until its destruction by the Burmese in the 18th century. Situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, we explore these amazing temple ruins by bicycle. On the final afternoon we visit the Old Summer Palace, with its mixed European and Chinese architecture, before heading back to your hotel in Bangkok.
This tour follows a wide range of trails, including quiet back roads, red laterite jeep trails. The whole tour is relatively undemanding and requires no technical ability and so is suitable for everyone.
We ride as a group, with experienced cycle guides setting an even pace and stop often to visit points of interest and sample some of the local food. Our support vehicle follows close behind with plenty of water. Our guides are knowledgeable on the local area and customs and explain the history, culture and local way-of-life each time we stop.
This trip is suitable for most levels of riders and is an excellent trip for families.
