About Barcelona Palau de la Musica

Celebrate music and the arts under glorious natural light inside this prestigious Barcelona concert hall. Enjoy genuine Catalan music in multiple folds: jazz, guitars, or perhaps the national symphony orchestra. While appreciating the artistic excellence that went into every pillar of this auditorium, be in the company of other music lovers in the heart of the Old Town.

A feat of modernist stained glass, sculpture and tile work, the Palau de la Música Catalana is bereft of musical and artistic nonsense. It was inspired by the Orfeó Català choral society, which was, in turn, drawn from Josep Anselm Clavé’s nationalist fervor for Catalan music. Completed in 1908 and designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, it is an architectural wonder positioned in a narrow street. It is the only European concert hall bathing in natural light, its huge inverted dome made of stained glass portraying a calming image of angelic choristers. The stage's backdrop, too, shows the popular "Muses of the Palau" or 18 instrument-playing maidens that will capture every visitor's heart. Barcelona's musical festivals are aplenty here.
