What To Expect
This half day tour will take you to three cellars of the Penedès area where you will learn about the process of making wine and cava (Catalan sparkling wine) and have the opportunity to taste them.
Catalonia is one of Spain's most prominent wine producing areas, boasting eleven appellations of origin. Vines have been grown in Catalonia for more than 2,000 years.
Today Catalonia is Spain's biggest producer of wine with appellation of origin, with a production rate of 380 million bottles per year, including cava, which accounts for half of this production.
Your wine tour starts in Bodegues Jean Leon Winery, where you will visit the winery and taste two wines: ''Le Havre'' 2009 (85% cabernet souvignon + cabernet franc) and ''Le Havre'' 2014 whose the process has not been completed. Savor this tasting with olives, fried potato wedges, crackers and dried fruits.
Then, go to Bodegues Torres Winery. Here, taste 4 wines which cheeses, which are : Viña Esmeralda with soft cheese, Atrium Merlot with a semi-mature cheese, Gran Coronas with mature cheese and Torres Moscatel Floralis with blue cheese. End your tour at Caves Frixenet, and savor Cordon negro and Brut Rosé.
