What To Expect
Stop pounding the pavements and jump on a bike to explore the backstreets of Beijing! The bike the local transportation of choice, as there's no better way to discover the hutong laneways and many landmarks of this fascinating city!
Jump on your bike right after meeting your local guide! Although modernizing at a rapid pace, China's capital has been able to preserve its ancient spirit in the winding alleyways and backstreets around the Forbidden City. Known as hutongs, these lanes remain as home to many of Beijing's residents as well as shops, markets, temples and historic buildings.
Wind through these hutongs for a unique view of the Chinese traditional way of life and see, how this neighborhood slowly disappears as the developers move in. Cycle your way to the local market to check out the fresh produce, where you can learn more about some traditional ingredients in Chinese cooking and pick up some snacks for later in the day. Then climb back on your bike and head off to visit some of our local friends before taking your tasty lunch.
Visit some of our local friends at Huiling and enjoy a simple, yet tasty Chinese lunch in a hutong house. Huiling is a community-based NGO which does great work for mentally challenged people, and on our visit you will have a chance to learn about the work that they do and make some friends in the workshop.
Hop back on to your bikes and continue our cycling journey through the hutongs until you are back at the drum tower, where our Beijing bike tour will come to an end
