What To Expect
The tour begins at Plaza de Bolívar where we will see the Prime Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the National Capitol, Casa 20 de Julio, Liévano Palace (the Mayor's Office) and the Justice Palace. Then, we will walk through the streets of La Candelaria, the historical district, and observe its colonial architecture and the district's different attractions, such as the Botero Museum, the Colon Theater, the Chorro de Quevedo and the Eje Ambiental. The next destination of the tour will be the Gold Museum*, home of the world's largest pre-Hispanic gold work collection, which is just a short stroll away.
Next, we will visit the Monserrate Sanctuary, world famous pilgrimage site, by funicular (railway) or cable car. It rises 3152 meters (around 10341 feet) above sea level and is the best place to enjoy a full view of the capital. Afterwards, we will make a brief stop to learn about the emerald process. During the tour our professional tour guide will offer an overview of our pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary history. At the end of the excursion, you will be dropped off at your hotel or at a convenient place within the urban area.
