Cycle the Yucatan peninsula from the Caribbean to the Gulf of Mexico. Discover fascinating thatched - roof villages clustered around once magnificent 16th and 17th century Spanish churches built of the stones of fallen Maya temples,Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza. Penetrate the jungle and view archeological sites hidden in Mexico’s second largest biosphere reserve, Sian Ka´an.
Kayak or Snorkel to your own private spot in the Maya reef, the world's second longest coral reef, cool off in the transparent waters of the cenotes--the perfect natural swimming pools formed as blue holes in the peninsula limestone crust fed by springs and underground rivers, enjoy the welcoming smiles of the people of Yucatan.
Itinerary
Day 1 Pick up at Cancun International Airport and transfer to hotel.
Everyone will arrive on time for the meet and greet to attend organizational briefing. Afterward, you will enjoy dinner together with the group to get to know each other. Overnight stay in Club Verano Beat. Participants will assemble and adjust their bikes in preparartion for the next day.
Day 2Cancun – Isla Mujeres – Cancun ( 17.6 miles )
Begin the day to a short ride to Puerto Juarez to then hop on the ferry to Isla Mujeres to bike around the island. On the island enjoy a snorkel trip in the surrounding coral reefs. Optional scuba diving is possible within the reefs of the area.
Day 3 Van transfer to Izamal.
Arrival and check in San Antonio Chalante Hacienda in Izamal.
Day 4 Izamal – Merida ( 49.71 miles )
Bike towards Merida colonial town. Check in either at the Del Gobernador hotel or Castellano hotel. As Merida is a busy city, there will be an optional pick up a few miles before entering the city for those persons who decide not riding into Merida. In Merida there will be a city tour visiting the cathedral and government palace to see historic murals.
Day 5 Merida – Uxmal ( 49.21 miles )
Cycle towards Uxmal. Check in at Club Med Uxmal. Enjoy the Light and sound show of Uxmal. Rest stop in Yaxcopoil Hacienda. Optional lunch for participants in the Hacienda
Day 6 Visit Uxmal archeological site. Follow by van to Chichen Itza passing thorough several small towns. Check in Club Med Chichen. Light and sound show in Chichen Itza.
Day 7 Chichen Itza – Valladolid ( 38.65 miles )
Optional early bird watching. Visit Chichen Itza archeological site early in the morning. Bike towards Valladolid passing small towns. Check in Meson del Marques. Afternoon city tour to the museum and main plaza.
Day 8Valladolid – Coba ( 47.85 miles )
Bike towards Coba. Check in at Club Med Coba. Visit Coba archeological site.
Day 9 Coba – Tulum ( 32.5 miles )
Early bird watching hike. Bike towards Tulum. Stop in Gran cenote to snorkel and cool down. Check in Los Lirios hotel.
Day 10Tulum – Xelha – Tulum ( 29.14 miles )
Bike to Tulum archeological site and back to the hotel to relax and enjoy the beach. Optional biking to Xelha park to snorkel. Bike back to Tulum.
Day 11Tulum – Siankaan – Tulum ( 14.91 miles )
Bike to Siankaan reserve to kayak in the wetlands. Learn about the protected area in the museum, enjoy a great view from the observation tower. Back to Tulum to keep enjoying the beach.
Day 12Trip to Xcaret park by van. Overnight in Playa del Carmen at the Shangri la hotel on the beach.
Day 13Playa del Carmen – Cozumel – Playa del Carmen ( 37.91 miles )
Bike towards the ferry terminal to take ferry to Cozumel. Once in Cozumel, we ride around the island. Rest stop in Playa Uvas for snorkeling in the best reefs of the Caribbean. Back to Shangri-la hotel in the afternoon.
Day 14Transfers to the airport and departure
