About Copenhagen Rundetårn

Located along a pedestrian street, the Round Tower is certainly a must-see in Copenhagen.

Completed in 1642, it was built as an observatory at the behest of King Christian IV. It features a cobbled spiral walkway (209 meters (686 feet) long) that goes around seven-and-half times and a pictorial puzzle that says 'control, learning and justice, the Lord in the heart of King Christian IV.’ Halfway up is a small exhibition hall, where classical concerts and exhibitions are held. The climb to the top is quite a workout but is worth the breathtaking view of the city’s rooftops. Sometimes, an astronomer is present at the observatory to lecture about the stars.
