What To Expect
Discover the main historical monuments of Cordoba in this guided walking tour through the historic city centre.
We will meet at the Lovers Monument, in Santo de los Martires, from where we will walk to the ancient Synagogue, an incredible religious monument that dates back to the middle ages. Marvel at its incredible conservation and its picturesque Moorish style. It is one of the three synagogues that survived the Inquisition period during the 15th century.
Later, we will go through the Jewish quarter, one of the most traditional areas in Cordoba, famous for its charming buildings and ancient cobbled streets. Admire the beautiful simplicity of the houses around, and of course the typical patios, open space in the centre of the house, ussually decorated with different flowers. Those streets are witnesses of the sociability between different religious groups that inhabited once the city: Muslims, Catholics and Jewish.
Finally, we will explore the most important monument of Cordoba: the Great Mosque Cathedral, which was built by the muslims during the 8th century, but it has been reappropiatedby the catholics in 1236. Nowadays is the formal Cathedral of Cordoba. Marvel at its imposing Moorish architecture and the original structure of the ancient building.
