Discovering Florence: Morning Walk

The tour begins at the central market zone, known for its multi-colored stalls and numerous workshops. Located here are the Medicean Chapels and the Medici family church, The Basilica di San Lorenzo.

You will also visit the Piazza del Duomo and go inside the Cathedral to admire its beauty. You will also see the magnificence of its dome, called the Cupola del Brunelleschi, Giotto’s bell tower and the Saint John Baptistery with its famous Ports del Paradiso.

Visit the medieval quarters where famous poet Dante Alighieri and Beatrice. As you walk by, you will find the Palazzo del Bargello, a former barracks and prison and now an art museum.
Further on, you will see the Palazzo Vecchio which overlooks the Piazza della Signoria, a great open-air sculpture museum. Next to it is the Uffizi Gallery, one of the oldest and most famous art museums of the world, home to several masterpieces of great Italian artists.

The tour goes on to the picturesque Mercato della Paglia or straw market, see the famous fountain Il Porcellino, sculpted and cast by Baroque master Pietro Tacca.

Walk along the street that leads to Ponte Vecchio or “Old Bridge.” Across the bridge is the last stop, which is the Pitti Palace, used by a power base by Napoleo, and briefly served as the principal royal palace of the new united Italy.
