Your first stop will be at the Riomaggiore, after an easy walk that allows you to see magnificent views of the coastline.* Upon arriving at the charming village of Manarola, you will have ample time to explore its narrow alleys and pretty squares.
From Manarola, you will enjoy a shared boat ride to reach the most beautiful town of the Cinque Terre - Vernazza. The town of Vernazza faces the horizon and with its large open harbor, castle and church, it conjures up all the magic of the Cinque Terre.
You will be having a relaxing lunch at one of the open-air restaurants that line the waterfront and then take a stroll through the back streets of the town above the harbor to enjoy splendid views along the coast.
For logistical reasons, the local driver-guide will be escorting you as far as Manarola and will make sure you are on board the boat for Vernazza before leaving you. You will be meeting him again in Vernazza after you have had time to explore the town on your own.
Before heading back to Florence, you will be driving up to Corniglia, the only one of the Cinque Terre towns not located directly on the water. Corniglia, is the ideal place to finish our day tour of the Cinque Terre as from the towns Belvedere, you will enjoy some of the best views of the Cinque Terre.
The terraced hills are covered with vineyards that remind visitors of Corniglia's famous wine that has been produced here way back in ancient times. In fact, the wine was so famous back then that vases excavated at Pompeii boasted its virtues.
After enjoying some free time in Corniglia, your tour ends and you will head back to Florence.
CHANGES IN 2014
*Starting 01 April 2014, we will begin the tour by visiting Corniglia. On the way, we will stop at panoramic viewpoints for spectacular views of the coast. A walk through this delightful hamlet will be followed by an aperitif, wine accompanied by bruschettas at a local wine bar which is included in the price of the tour.
We continue on to Vernazza. With its large open harbour, castle and church, it conjures up all the magic of the Cinque Terre. Here you'll enjoy free time to walk around and to have an optional lunch (at your own expense).
After spending two hours in Vernazza, we will take the shared boat ride to reach Riomaggiore and to enjoy the view of the dramatic coastline from the water. In Riomaggiore, the most southern village of the Cinque Terre, with its tower houses built on a cliff, you will meet again your driver-tour escort.
You will walk through the village with your guide, then head on to Manarola, one of the oldest towns in the Cinque Terre, by coastal train. After your visit to the village of Manarola, we will make our way back to Florence, where we will arrive at about 19:30.

If you are visiting Tuscany, Cinque Terre should not be missed. It is truly spectacular. The tour itself was very comfortable and well-organized. I do have one criticism--a couple of times we had to use the train--both the trains and the stations were crammed with people, pushing and shoving, and a couple of ladies in our group were cut off, and had to rejoin us later. However, apart from the train situation, this is an unforgettable part of Italy that should be on everyone's list.
Very good experience. We wouldn't have seen so much going on our own. The tour guide was very competent, had a lot of information to give and a good driver. We also appreciated the group size (7 people), punctuality and location of the meeting point. Have already recommended this tour to friends doing to Firenze.
