“We had a fantastic day - although it was raining we still enjoyed the boat trip on the Rhine River and took photos of the lovely castles. The wine tasting was a highlight and our tour leader/bus driver was the best. ...Mariana S., – See more reviews
What To Expect
Go on an unforgettable trip to the Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Upper Rhine Valley has been praised as a cultural landscape of great diversity and beauty, featuring historical and artistic associations.
See the magnificent river, the little villages, the steep slopes of the vineyards and the majestic medieval castles which exemplify one of the oldest European historic landscapes in the world. Although close to the financial metropolis, the valley is far away from the chaos of urban living. The tour begins by bus from Frankfurt where you'll be accompanied by an English speaking guide. We'll arrive at the valley after a 50-minute ride along the highway towards Weisbaden.
Drive along the river banks, then up the hills towards the Niederwald Monument. Enjoy a fantastic view over the valley as we continue to a cable car station. You can enjoy a ride with the (open) ropeway down into the valley at an additional cost. Sliding down through the green hills and vineyards into the valley is an incredible experience one must not miss! You may also choose to stay at the comfort of your bus.
The group then meets at the bottom of the valley, right at the river edge. Enjoy a short walk to a lovely restaurant located in Rüdesheim-Aßmannshausen followed by a light lunch. Guests may order a glass of the famous "ice wine" after lunch. This exclusive, sweet and rare wine originates from this area and is produced from grapes that have been frozen. Ice wine is an exquisite pleasure.
We'll leave the restaurant by 14:15 and walk a few steps towards the pier to embark on one of the typical white Rhine steamer ships. Enjoy the stunning scenic beauty of the river panorama and continue to the Lorely Rock. According to a famous poem by Heinrich Heine, a beautiful siren named Lorely was said to bewitch sailors by distracting them with her beauty and song, causing them to crash into the rocks. We then disembark at St. Goarshausen.
At approximately 16:00, we return alongside the river banks by bus. Enjoy a wine tasting and learn about the long tradition of wine growing in the valley. You can also take a private stroll along the river. This is the perfect opportunity to take magnificent photographs or have a cup of coffee.
We'll take a short stop in the old village of Rüdesheim where you can buy souvenirs before heading back to Frankfurt at approximately 19:00.
