What To Expect
Learn about Finnish art, architecture and history during our tour of Mänttä!
During our tour of the town, we will visit the Serlachius Museums - namely the Art Museum Gösta and the Historical Museum Gustaf. See masterpieces from golden-age Finnish painters to more cutting-edge, contemporary artworks inside the Gösta. Enjoy the museum's main exhibition The Art of Others which features 5000 works of outside art from the collection of Korine and Max E. Amman. Also get to see some of the works of Anselm Kiefer in an upcoming exhibition starting the 3rd of October.
Inside the Gustaf, you can learn about the Finnish paper industry and the history of the Serlachius family in an entertaining dramatized route where you are placed in the role of an employee candidate. There are also plenty of interactive and educational exhibitions within the museum.
Another attraction to watch out for is the fascinating Gösta's Pavilion. Winner of the Spanish International Architecture Prize, marvel at this building which utilizes traditional Finnish construction materials in a modern way.
Get a chance to see new artworks during the Mänttä Art Festival. Held every summer since 1993, the exhibition for this year will feature artworks created by artists of foreign origin who are working in Finland.
