What To Expect
Discover the best of Hong Kong's fascinating markets on this Kowloon Market Tour and get up close and personal as you weave your way through areas where locals have been shopping for more than 100 years!
Start off the tour on a fragrant note at the vibrant and colorful Flower Market which consists of more than 50 shops. The jungle of exotic blossoms, luck-bringing houseplants and sweet scents make for the perfect introduction to the markets in Kowloon.
Continue to the nearby Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, which is a charming Chinese-style garden with songbird stalls, traditional Chinese courtyards and moon gates. Forget about the crazy city streets that lie just outside the gates as you listen to the sounds of a thousand birds and soak up the peaceful surroundings.
Learn and understand the geography of the city as the tour goes on and discover where Kowloon ends and new territories begin. Your guide will also point out a mountain that is a true Hong Kong landmark and a local symbol.
Now it's time to practice your bargaining skills at a popular local street market where vendors sell bargain-priced clothes, bags and accessories. Experience the market's vibrant atmosphere set deep within the neighborhood of Mong Kok. Considered as the world's most densely populated neighborhood, Mong Kok is home to more than 130,000 people per square kilometer! We then head out down Nathan Road, passing by the newly built five-star Langham Place hotel and mall, before reaching Shanghai Street.
Catch a glimpse of what 1950s abd 60s Hong Kong was like as you pass through Shanghai Street. The street was once famous for selling everything from traditional wedding clothes to ancestral offerings. We'll head to the Yau Ma Tei fruit market which is a century-old wholesale market that sells exotic fruits from all over the world. From there, we'll also pass by the worl famous Jade Market, which has more than 400 hawkers!
Our final stop would be a visit to Temple Street. See the city's working class culture first-hand as you admire the Sea Goddess Temple and the Yau Ma Tei Public Plaza, where locals enjoy spending a lazy afternoon under the beautiful Chinese Banyan trees.
