What To Expect
Start the day off with a four hour drive along the Nile in Upper Egypt, passing through several towns and villages, while preparing to witness Egyptian history. Take a look at the real Egyptian life while taking a break halfway through the drive. To fully understand the beauty and history of the place, an Egyptologist will guide you all throughout the tour.
The first stop will be at the Temple of Karnak, one of the most spectacular temples in the world. Even after thousands of years since its time, it is still in a remarkably good condition. Admire hieroglyphs and paintings and visit numerous churches, temples and statues. Near the Sacred Lake is a large scarab which was built by Amenophis III to signify good luck. Legend has it that if you walk around the beetle counter-clockwise for a certain number of times, you will have good luck.
For lunch, dine in a local restaurant, crossing to the west bank where the Valley of the Dead is located. After filling your stomach with authentic Egyptian food, carry on and witness the 3400-year old Colossi of Memnon and admire the gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
Moving on, explore the Valley of Kings, where kings and powerful nobles were buried 500 years ago. Mummies of some of of the most famous figures have been found here from the pharaonic period. Descend to the tombs of Egyptian rulers and study the well preserved, colorful paintings and hieroglyphics on the walls.
Last stop is at the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most fascinating rulers of ancient Egypt. She has an unusual funerary temple with columns lined terraces, a portico and numerous paintings and statues.
After witnessing ancient Egypt before your very eyes, a comfortable ride back to your hotel awaits.
