What To Expect
This do-it-yourself tour is designed for those seeking total autonomy without the confines of a group and a strict route. The interactive guide will prove to be your perfect traveling companion enabling you to enjoy your chosen destination at your own pace.
First off, you may want to visit the Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This monument made of bronze emerges in the center of the sanctuary in front of the Chapel of the Apparitions. This Chapel was built in the exact location where Our Lady appeared to the shepherd children, where the holm oak once grew. The holm oak has disappeared completely because it was taken piece by piece by pilgrims.
Next up, check out the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima. It was built where the shepherd children were playing on the 13th of May in 1917 before the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. The mortal remains of the three seers are also buried on this site.
Afterwards, you may want to see the Church of the Most Holy Trinity designed by the famous architect Alexandros Tombazis. The church was inaugurated on the 12th of October in 2007 in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin of the Rosary of Fatima.
Then head straight to the Pilgrims on Foot in the middle of the Sanctuary of Fatima. Find the path that pilgrims walk on using their knees. Do not miss these breathtaking attractions before you set out off the beaten path for the rest of your stay in Lisbon.
