These areas are very old : you can find roman ruins, near the museum of London. There are 3 important markets : Brick lane, Petticoat Lane, and Smithfield market. The Barbican centre is the centre of the life in this area, with its shops, theatres, cinemas, galleries, library... Ther's even a garden on the roof !

Great churches have been kept in good state : St Bartholomew-the-great , Chist Church and St Bartholomew-the-less. A flower market takes place on sunday on Columbia Road. You can visit Dennis Severs House and take a look into Fournier street, where XVIII th century's houses were built.
