Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge Tour

The tour starts off at Windsor, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world and home to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We will visit the magnificent State Apartments, furnished with some of the finest works of art and still used for State occasions; St George's Chapel, where the tombs of many kings and Queens lie, notably Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour and the Queen Mary's Dolls House, the most famous dolls house in the world.

We proceed to Stonehenge. Five-thousand years ago these 40-ton rocks were dragged to the lonely windy plain of Salisbury Hill, and their secrets continue to tantalise and intrigue scholars and visitors to this day. Some say that Stonehenge was a religious temple, others that it was an astronomical clock, or a Bronze Age burial ground. Learn more about this iconic monument steeped in mystery and legend, and let your imagination be captivated by its silent, ancient mysteries.

Afterwards, the group has lunch at a traditional English pub near Stonehenge.

In the afternoon, we head to Bath. Standing on the slopes of the River Avon, this beautiful Georgian city was the first city in England to be designated a World Heritage Site. On our panoramic tour we will see Bath Abbey, where the first British King was crowned in 973AD, the famous Pulteney Bridge modelled on the Florentine Ponte Vecchio and the stunning architecture of the Royal Crescent.

We will visit the Roman Baths that made the city famous, the best preserved Roman Spa from the ancient world, but then tantalizingly hidden from view until the 1870's. Here we will also witness the torch lighting ceremony when the torches around the Great Roman Bath are lit at dusk (not applicable in Summer) and there is an opportunity to drink a glass of spa water straight from the historic Pump Rooms.

Please Note
- Guests can bring one piece of luggage per person on the coach tour; however food and drinks are not permitted on the coach.
- At the end of the tour, guests will be dropped off at Kensington, Marble Arch or Victoria area subject to traffic conditions.
- Windsor Castle will be closed on April 23, May 17, June 16, November 11 and December 25 to 26 2008.
- The State Apartments in Windsor Castle will be closed on November 12 and December 12.
- St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services. St. George’s Chapel is also only open until 13:00 on December 23 and will be closed on October 25 and December 24.
