Our day begins with a drive past many of London's famous monuments -- the Houses of Parliament with Big Ben, Downing Street, the official London residence of the British Prime Minister, Trafalgar Square with the statue of Lord Nelson, Pall Mall and much more.
We will make a photo stop at Westminster Abbey. This magnificent Gothic building that has been the site of every coronation since 1066.
The tour also visits the Household Cavalry Museum and goes behind the scenes. Guests can actually meet and actual trooper and ask questions about being in the Household Cavalry.
Afterwards, we alight at Buckingham Palace, to witness the Queen's Foot Guard in their red tunics and bearskins marching to the accompaniment of a military band, truly a colourful spectacle. If the ceremony is not available, the tour will visit the Horseguards Parade.
Lunch (not included) will be at a traditional English pub. There will be other choices available for those taking lunch independently.
After lunch, time permitting, we enjoy a short walking tour of vibrant Covent Garden, a wonderful Italian style piazza lined with shops, street entertainers and restaurants in the heart of London' theatre district.
Driving through the financial center we will learn about the Great Fire of 1666 and the Blitz of 1940-41. We will also see the Bank of England and the home of the Lord Mayor - The Mansion House.
We arrive at Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece, St. Paul's Cathedral which is one of London's greatest buildings with its Dome standing proud on the skyline. The present building, completed in 1708, replaced the medieval Cathedral destroyed in the Great Fire of London.
The guided tour of the interior includes the newly cleaned Cathedral and Crypt as well as exclusive access to the Quire to see the beautiful mosaics. This is not normally open to general public.
Our next stop is the Tower of London to view the Crown Jewels.
During its thousand-year history, this impressive fortress has been a royal palace, prison, mint and zoo. It has seen three Queens of England beheaded, and the torture of numerous prisoners, stretched on the rack and crushed in the Scavenger's Daughter. We will also see the famous Crown Jewels including the dazzling Cullinan diamonds and the exquisite Koh-i-Noor, as well as the Bloody Tower, Traitors' Gate, the Royal Chapel and the White Tower, built by King William the Conqueror in 1078.
Towards the end of the tour, we celebrate in spectacular style with a wonderful river cruise enjoying superb views of Tower Bridge, London Bridge, the London Eye, and Houses of Parliament, Shakespeare's Globe theatre, the Tate Modern and much more.
We finish off this wonderful day with a flight on the London Eye where we’ll enjoy fantastic panoramic views as the whole of London stretches out below you.
