Description

Visit the historical area of England known as the Cotswolds. Get an in depth look at the Cotswolds as we drive through several picturesque villages.

Continue to the pretty village of Woodstock which boasts of many charming streets, inns and tea shops and is most famous for the close proximity to the ancestral home of the Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace, which contains a wonderful collection of furniture and paintings. Explore the interior of the Palace, beautifully balanced by the intricate detail and delicacy of the carvings, the hand painted ceilings and the amazing porcelain collections, tapestries and paintings displayed in each room.

Burford will be our next stop, a thriving old wool town built along a steep high street which leads down a medieval bridge spanning the River Windrush. Burford is full of crooked little houses, leaning walls and gabled cottages. We will stop for lunch in a traditional English pub in the village.

We will proceed to Bourton on the Water, often called the “Venice of the Cotswolds.” This village is one of the most photographed in the region, with its traditional Cotswold villages, elegant low bridges and picturesque Main Street. Then, we travel to the highest town in the Cotswolds. At one end is the ancient Market Cross and this famous market town is surrounded by elegant Cotswold houses.

Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds

"Blenheim Palace could have been a bit longer..maybe an additional 1/2 hour. Other stops not so interesting..towns with shops and stops were too short. Lunch was adequate. Overall, we liked tour and would recommedn it. "
