Experience a unique opportunity to fully appreciate art, history and nature as you explore Lucca and visit the heart of the mountainous region of the Garfagnana Hills.
Admire the magnificent Renaissance architecture in the city of Lucca surrounded by the famous 16th century thick walls. Take a stroll and enjoy the breathtaking view over rooftops, steeples, gardens, churches, tower-houses and the Tuscan countryside. See the famous Guinigi Tower in the historic center, the picturesque Piazza Anfiteatro, the medieval street filled with elegant boutiques, Piazza San Michele and the Saint Martino Cathedral.
We will then depart for Garfagnana, traveling through green valleys and chestnut trees. See the Ponte della Maddalena or the "Devil's Bridge" as we stop by the river Serchio. First built in the 12th century, the astonishing bridge is a great example of medieval engineering with its unique asymmetrical arches.
Enjoy a Tuscan lunch consisting of local food and wine at a typical agriturismo overlooking the mountains. You will then have time to relax and shop for local products before heading to a lovely Medieval Fortress. Lastly, visit the charming village of Barga, one of the most beautiful boroughs in Italy.
