What To Expect
This full day tour combines two of our half day tours: Royal Monastery of El Escorial and Basilica of the Valley in the morning, and the Royal Site of Aranjuez in the afternoon.
El Escorial houses the Mausoleum of Spanish Monarchs, and the Valley of the Fallen, a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the Spanish Civil War. The visit includes the Hapsburgs Palace, the Kings and Princes Mausoleum, the Chapter Houses, the Architecture Room, the Weapons Room, the Library and the Basilica.
Located 9km away from El Escorial, the Basilica of the Valley of the Fallen was built between 1940 and 1959 to honor the fallen during the Spanish Civil War. The basilica is carved into the mountain at 1350 meters, where an impressive 150-meter high cross places itself over the magnificent nature reserve of Madrid mountain range.
In Aranjuez, explore the Royal Palace and its gardens. You will appreciate the China Chamber Porcelain and the Throne Room of Elizabeth II, The Prince's Gardens, Parterre and the Island, characterized by a great variety of vegetation and tree species. You can also take a stroll through the Museum of Royal Feluccas, with an exhibit of boats used by the Royal Family.
