What To Expect
A 1.5-hour land trip from Manila brings you to Tagaytay City. From here, we head toward the rim of the 25-30kilometer wide old caldera straddling the provinces of Cavite and Batangas provinces which was created by four eruptions 500,000 to 100,000 years ago. We will take in a panoramic view of Taal Lake and drive down to the lake shore where a local picnic lunch awaits you.
After lunch, we will board a motorized outrigger boat for the 20-minute ride to Volcano Island, which was created by subsequent eruptions up to 1754. Assisted by your guide and a local coordinator, we will ride local ponies along wide expanses of hardened black lava flows up to the crater rim viewpoint overlooking the 2 kilometer-wide Crater Lake. Within Crater Lake is another volcanic cinder cone called Vulcan Point, which appeared during Taal's last major eruption in 1977. Your day ends with the drive back to Manila.
