First on the itinerary is a visit to the Palais de Bahia. This palace represented the lavish lifestyles of the city's rulers back in the olden times. Composed of gardens, mosaics, and courtyards, this particular area was a favorite place of the high-position rulers along with their wives and concubines. With the intent of becoming the finest architecture ever built in the world, this palace was a project completed by the top artisans of Morocco. It is composed of 160 rooms, with 150 rooms open for public viewing. Hear stories that have encompassed between the sultans and their slaves from your local tour guide.
After a breathtaking tour of the palace, you will then walk inside the Medina where you will visit one of the local bakeries and will be able to taste some Moroccan pastries. Here, you will see how the pastries are prepared and then baked. The culinary part of this tour does not end with the bakery, you will stop by at a local food shop at a local neighborhood hammam where you will see how the Moroccan dish, tanjia is prepared. The Tanjia is a meat dish in Marrakech which is composed of marinated meat in herbs, garlic, mixed spices, lemon, oil, water, salt, pepper, and then cooked slowly in the embers of the hammam fire.
Last on the itinerary is a visit to the Photography Museum where you can browse at more than 4,500 rotating photos of Marrakech 100 years ago. Complete with photographs depicting the vintage village scenes, pictures of the locals, and the Berber tribes of the Atlas Mountains, you can never go wrong with visiting this gallery.
