What To Expect
Melbourne is one of the best Art Deco cities in the world and many of the best buildings are located in the city center. In 1934, Melbourne celebrated its centenary and this event provided a catalyst for a building boom that continued for the next six years to transform the city.
This tour covers a variety of building types in the center of the city, commencing at Manchester Unity building at Collins Street and concluding at the T&G Building corner Collins and Russell Streets. Robin Grow, author of the award-winning book Melbourne Art Deco will communicate to the group the influences on design, construction methods and the history of occupants of Melbourne's interwar buildings.
