“Great day with a friendly, knowledgeable guide. The highlight of seeing the Penguins is a must do! ! Got a good overview of the area, so much so that I will plan to go back to Phillip Island in the future for a long weekend to do the things that you cant on a day tour. ...Dawn M., Australia – See more reviews
What To Expect
Enjoy the very best of the region's wildlife and gourmet delights on this day trip to Phillip Island. Leaving Melbourne, we travel first to the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park where you will get the opportunity to meet and hand-feed many species of native Australian animals on a guided wildlife walk. Learn about iconic species such as kangaroos, koalas, emus, wallabies and Tasmanian devils, as well as some of the lesser known favorites like quolls, owls and bandicoots.
We stop next for gourmet afternoon tea at the delightful Phillip Island Winery. Sample a range of locally produced wines with a lovely selection of Gippsland's finest cheeses and other gourmet produce. The wine and cheese tasting is accompanied by an informative presentation about each of the foodstuffs sampled, ensuring an experience that is educational as well as truly mouth-watering.
We continue on to Point Grant and The Nobbies to enjoy views over Westernport Bay and Bass Strait, including Seal Rocks, home to Australia's largest population of fur seals, before ending the day with the trip's main highlight - the Penguin Parade at Summerland Beach.
Witness the phenomenon where, just after dark every night, the world's smallest penguins waddle ashore after a day of fishing out at sea. Be enchanted as the stars of the show emerge from the surf and parade right before your eyes on their journey back to their homes. Your guide will ensure you are able to get the very best vantage point to enjoy the Penguin Parade and will help to keep you toasty warm with a complimentary hot cuppa.
For an exclusive viewing experience, upgrade to the more personalized "Penguins Plus" viewing platform*. With numbers limited to 150, you'll enjoy special ranger interpretation in a more natural setting. This option also includes a complimentary hot beverage.
After the parade, you will have plenty of free time to explore the Penguin Parade Visitor Centre before the journey back to Melbourne.
With drop-off right back to your inner city accommodation, you'll remember this day as a true highlight of your Australian holiday.
