Old and New Delhi City Tour

"The Old and New Delhi City Tour took us to many important cultural and historicl locations. We realize it would take much longer than one day to see all of Delhi with its many significant sites and monuments, but the ones chosen for the tour were educational and worthwhile. The rickshaw ride through Old Delhi was particularly fun and enlightening. What we didn't really like was the pressure we felt to buy a pricey item at the Cottage Industry site. We explained to our tour guide that we had done all the shopping we intended to do, yet he seemed to disparage what we had bought as inauthentic (but we knew it wasn't because we had received the exact same carpet weaving demonstration when shopping as we were shown at the Cottage Industry site). That time could have been much better spent seeing something else of historical importance. We wondered if our guide might receive a commission for items purchased by tourists at this particular carpet and handcrafts site (?). We didn't buy anything, and we almost felt embarrased and as though we had to apologize for not making a purchase. Otherwise, he was a good tour guide, which I've always found to be the case through City Discovery."
