What To Expect
Discover New York City, starting with a tour of Battery Park. Here you will learn about "Castle Clinton", a fort from the War of 1812. It then became "Castle Garden", an early predecessor to Madison Square Garden, among other things.
From there you'll walk down to the shoreline where you can catch views of the mighty Hudson River, the State of New Jersey, The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
We will then visit the temporary location of a beautiful sculpture called "The Sphere", built to symbolize world peace through world trade. This symbol of fortitude stood directly in the shadow of the Trade Center towers yet miraculously survived the attacks.
We will then make our way up Broadway past the famous "Charging Bull", one of the most popular sculptures in New York.
From here Wall Street is just steps away. Once there, we'll pass by four of the most famous buildings in New York, the New York Stock Exchange, the J.P. Morgan Building, Federal Hall and 40 Wall Street.
Then it's back up to Broadway to Trinity Church where you'll see the graves of Robert Fulton, the inventor of the steamboat and Alexander Hamilton who's on the USD10.00 U.S. bill.
We will then head over to the Fireman's Memorial and stand in front of the "Ten House", a working New York City firehouse whose members were the first responders on 9/11. Here you can photograph the beautiful and haunting 56 foot long bronze bas-relief mural which depicts in exquisite detail the bravery of the men and women of the FDNY as they fought the blazes on 9/11, as well as the names of all the 343 NYC firefighters who lost their lives on that tragic day.
The Tour ends at the World Trade Center 9/11 Memorial site, where your guide will leave you to explore the grounds and gather your thoughts in quiet introspection. You can walk around the two "Reflecting Absence" memorial pools and waterfalls (in the footprints of the original Twin Towers) and see the names of all the 2,977 victims on 9/11. You can also take a picture of the beautiful and amazing "Survivor Tree", and amire spectacular views of the new World Trade Center buildings, including One World Trade Center, as well as the beautiful "Oculus" transportation hub by Santiago Calatrava.
