Meet the Brazilian face of Oporto, the birthplace of many notable personalities in Brazilian history. Learn about Pero Vaz de Caminha who authored the document that is considered to be the "birth certificate" of Brazil; Brás Cubas the founder of the city of Santos in São Paulo and Tomás Gonzaga, the hero of the Minas Gerais Conspiracy.
Visit the main square of Oporto and see the statue of Pedro the first emperor of Brazil located at Praça da Liberdade. Hear the story of how the emperor gave his heart to the city of Oporto. Another notable site is the Grand Hotel do porto where Teresa Cristina - the last Empress of Brazil, passed away. You will also get to see two of the Oporto's most popular cafés - A Brasileira and Guarany.
Oporto was also the embarkation point for thousands of Portuguese who emigrated to Brazil and hosted the "Brasileiros de torna-viagem" or "Round-trip Brazilians", Portuguese that earned wealth in Brazil and then returned to Portugal. The tour will visit one of the mansions owned by the "Brasileiros de torna-viagem".
