What To Expect
Take a guided tour to the French historic area of Montmarte, a place known for its village-like charm and preserved culture. Notable infrastructures in the Montmarte area include the Montmarte cemetery (a resting place for some of France's most notable painters, composers and literary figures), Moulin Rouge, the Basilica of the Sacré Coeur, and the Place du Tertre.
Visit the famed Basilica of the Sacré Coeur, a church lying atop the Montmartre Hill known for miraculously sheltering the locals from 13 bombs that the country came across to during WWII. This basilica is constructed with a massive dome housing a large mosaic in its apse called the Christ in Majesty, which is among the largest found around the world. The top of the dome provides visitors a panoramic view of Paris, surely worth the climb.
The tour will also allow visitors to weave through the busy streets of Montmarte such as the famous Place du Tertre square where 20th century artists were known to live close by. Tourists can negotiate and have portraits of themselves drawn by the talented artists at varying fees.
The tour will end at the Paris L'Opentour bus stop N 51 Blanche, on the yellow line, in front of the Moulin Rouge cabaret.
