Chateau of Versailles Guided Tour with Skip the Line Access

All through the excursion, our guide interpreter will bring back to life the Palace of Versailles where, from 1682, Louis XIV officially installed the court and government of the Kingdom.

In particular, you will discover the Great Royal Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen’s Apartments.

There will be free time at the end of the excursion to stroll through the French gardens surrounded by sculptures, statues, busts and marble vases made from 1661 by teams of sculptors initially supervised by Charles Le Brun, the King’s leading painter.

Some Historical Notes
- Louis XIII’s hunting lodge was converted and enlarged by his son Louis XIV into the seat of the court and the government of France from 1682.
- New apartments were added to the Château in the 18th century under orders of Louis XV and Louis XVI.
- The royal family was forced to abandon Versailles on October 6, 1789 after the first days of the French Revolution.
- In 1837, King Louis-Philippe inaugurated in the Château the Museum devoted to all the glories of France.

In addition to the usual Versailles Palace program a special fountains show is offered every Saturdays and Sundays from April 1 to October 26, 2008. The program lets you wander around the groves and pools where the magnificent display of fountains reveals the skill and artistry of three centuries of French garden design and engineering. The display is accompanied by music from one of the famous composers from the court of Louis XIV.

- The entrance to the gardens of the Palace of Versailles is free everyday except the days when a special event is organized in the gardens.
- The days of the Fountains Show Special Programme, entrance tickets to the gardens will have to be paid on the spot (+8 €).
- The days of the “Musical Gardens,” entrance tickets to the gardens will also have to be paid on the spot (+8 €).
