Claude Monet settled in Giverny in 1883 and lived there until his death in 1926. During that period many painters, mostly Americans were initiated into impressionism by the master. We suggest you to start the day with a guided walk through the gardens which inspired him the famous “Nympheas”. Do not miss the Japanese bridge. Then, you can visit the house on your own: the painter’s furniture and his collection of etchings.
Enjoy your lunch and drinks at the “Moulin de Fourges” a picturesque mill on the banks of the Epte River.
We will then take you back into the past and plunge you into the world of Louis XIV at the heart of the Castle of Versailles. While you visit the Grand Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen’s apartments, our guide interpreter will tell you all about the building of the castle and life at the court. You will also have free time to visit the formal gardens “à la Française.”
In addition to the usual Versailles Palace program, a special fountains show is offered on certain days. The program lets you wander around the groves and pools where the magnificent display of fountains reveals the skill and artistry of three centuries of French garden design and engineering. The display is accompanied by music from one of the famous composers from the court of Louis XIV.
