What To Expect
On the way to the chateau of Fontainebleau, the most appreciated residence of the French kings and emperors, your guide will give you an introduction to the history of the palace. Once you arrive, you will go on a guided visit of the chateau with its glorious Renaissance decor, its richly adorned wood paneling, gilded carvings, frescoes, tapestries and paintings. You will have time to explore of the Trinity Chapel, the Francois 1st Gallery, the Ballroom and the Royal Apartments.
After a stroll in the gardens, you will head to the idyllic village of Barbizon (if time permits), which inspired 19th century landscape painters such as Millet, Corot, Rousseau and Stevenson.
You will also be visiting the Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte. Upon arrival, proceed for a private guided tour of the chateau and see the Vestibule, the Grand Salon, the Private Apartments, the Hercules Salon, Chamber of Muses, the Royal Apartments, the Chambre Carree, the beautiful kitchens and the magnificent gardens.
