What To Expect
Discover the oldest colonial city, erected in the 15th century. Admire the First Cathedral of the Americas, Santa Maria la Manor, birthplace of a fervent Catholic faith, today inscribed to the UNESCO world's heritage list, and place of rest during many years for the remains of Critopher Colombus. It is said that its architectural plans were designed by Leonardo Da Vinci himself!
Visit also the National Pantheon , part of the cultural heritage of Santo Domingo, once a Jesuit church, and owner of a stunning and really beautiful architecture. It is resting place of the remains of the Dominican Republic heros. After that, wander through the Mueso de la Casas Reales, formerly the Governmental Palace, with its alluring display of colonial era artifacts; one of the most important monuments of the colonial period.
Then it's time for a delicious typical lunch to experience a fascinating culinary feast with an outburst of exquisite flavors. In the afternoon, go to the boardwalk of Santo Domingo The Malecon where you will see the beauty of the Caribbean sea and modern buildings such as the Fine Arts Palace, National Theatre and Presidential Palace. See the lighthouse built in 1992 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Columbus landing in the Americas and current resting site of Colomus remins.
