As one of the places in the world where the Mid- Atlantic ridge is visible from sea level, Reykjanes Peninsula is a destination in its own right becoming a retreat for recreational activities. Different elements exist in the peninsula including geothermal energy, lava fields and other natural phenomena. Aside from spectacular landscapes such as caves, geothermal waters, hot springs and volcanic craters, Reykjanes Peninsula also has numerous churches, lighthouses and museums to visit.
Stop by the notable Gunnuhver, a famous geological hot spot in Iceland's geyser regions named after a female ghost causing a great disturbance in the area. Then, make a quick stop at Krísuvík, another popular recreational destination with many hiking trails, and marvel on Iceland's majestic natural wonders.
