What To Expect
You will be picked up from Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon for a full day City Tour of Rio de Janeiro including a guided visit to the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library and the Municipal Theatre Opera House.
One of the first highlights of Rio that you will see is the Monastery of San Benito. Is it considered one of the main attractions of the Brazilian architecture and was founded in 1590 by two Bahian monks. Then, you will see the Candelaria Church, a neo-classical building that took over 100 years to build before heading to the Primeiro de Março avenue. It is one of the most important streets of Rio where the France-Brazil House, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and the Post Office building are located.
After that, you will reach the Plaza XV with the Imperial Palace that was built in 18th century to serve as residence for the governors of colonial Brazil and used as a Royal residence before being one of the main political centers of Rio. Do not miss the gorgeous Tiradentes Palace, former building of the Brazilian Parliament located on the same square.
Pass by the modern Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio, the impressive Arcos da Lapa aqueduct in the Lapa neighborhood known for its lively cultural life and the lovely Ruins Park in Santa Teresa neighborhood.
Visit the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, a brazilian cultural organization among the top hundred most visited art museums in the world.
The last stop of the tour will be at Cinelandia square, where you will be able admire the beauty of the Municipal Theatre, the National Library, the Legislative Assembly and the Museum of Fine Arts before visiting two of them.
Enjoy a guided visit of the Municipal Theatre, one of the most beautiful art-nouveau buildings in Rio inspired by the Paris Opera Garnier and that receives the major international and Brazilian artists, from dance, music and opera.
Pass by the National Museum of Fine Arts also known as MNBA, one of the most important cultural institutions of the country, as well as the most important museum of Brazilian art. It has an impressive collection of 20,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints of the 19th-century.
Then, explore the largest library in Latin America and the 7th largest in the world which collection includes about 9 million items.
You will be dropped off in the Southern hotel area of Rio after the tour.
