Visit the Basilica of St. John in Lateran, the Mother church of the whole world, and discover its impressive history. Get inside the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the four great ancient basilicas in Rome, and then proceed to the Appian Way, the most important Ancient Roman road, lined with monuments and tombs of patrician families passing the famous Church of St. Mary in Palmis where Peter had a vision of Jesus. Underneath the influential Appian Way are massive underground catacombs, where early Christians buried their dead and held secret church services.
