What To Expect
Join on a 3 hour guided walking tour of the Imperial Forum created to meet the need for more spaces in the old political center of Ancient Rome. With a skip the line access, spend more time roaming around the complex with an expert guide to give your fascinating facts and stories.
Walk along the Imperial Forum (Via dei Fori Imperiali) to reach the Trajan's Market and get an insight on how the forum changed over time to cater the city's growing population. One of the few preserved high-rise structures, the Trajan's Market is a good example of Roman urban architecture. As you enter the glorious Trajan's Market, admire the breathtaking complex consisting of Ancient Rome's shopping district where goods, such as fruit and vegetables, grains, spices, fish and wine, were bought and sold. The state storehouses, providing food for the poor at lower rates or for free, were also located at the market complex. Discover the 6 terraced floors containing over one hundred and fifty shops as you take a stroll along Via Biberatica (The Drink Road). Then, continue to the steep stairway leading to a huge market hall filled with ancient shops.
Head towards the Museum of the Imperial Forum and browse through the artifacts found from all of the forums of Ancient Rome, including the Corinthian capital decorated on three sides, a piece from the lower block of an Ionic cornice and a piece of the colossal statue of Genius Augusti.
