Known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian, St. Angel Castle was commissioned by Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for his family and himself. Visit St. Angel Castle (Castel Sant'Angelo) and marvel on the impressive building once considered as the tallest building in Rome. St. Angel Castle is a towering cylindrical building later used as a fortress and castle by the popes. At the present, the castle is now a museum with a scenic view along the shore of the Tiber River.
See the tomb of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, also called as Hadrian's mole, and the remains of his succeeding emperors. Continue to the Pons Aelius, facing straight onto the mausoleum, and admire the views surrounding the place.
