What To Expect
Enjoy an exciting tour around Rome's most famous basilicas together with a witty English-speaking guide who can tell you the significance and history of every church you visit. Hop aboard the tour's airconditioned mini bus that will take you from one church to another.
First off, visit the St. John of Lateran Archbasilica, a church considered to be the first ever Catholic Church in the western world. This basilica is most famous for its 14th century baldachin, the gold mosaics that decorate its apse, and the 12 monumental apostles.
Next, visit the Scala Sancta or the Holy Stairs which is located inside the St. John Lateran Archbasilica. This staircase was brought home by St. Helen, the mother of Emperor Constantine during one of her visits to Jerusalem. What makes this staircase one-of-a-kind is that it has been rumored to be the stairs that Jesus used on his way to trial under Pontius Pilate.
Then, come to the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, a basilica erected atop the grave of Saint Paul himself. Marvel at the basilica's impressive mosaics, cloisters, and interiors that have been restored to retain its original architecture.
The tour's last stop is at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, more commonly known as the Patriarchal Basilica of St. Mary Major. On your tour of its interiors, see majestic 5th century mosaics that depict stories from the Old Testament. Spanning a height of 240 feet, its medieval bell tower ranks the highest in Rome. Your tour ends at this basilica.
