Learn about the famous Popes of Rome and their love for art and the glamorous lives they led during the Renaissance.

We will discuss the lives of great artists who worked at the Vatican, among them Michelangelo and Raphael. We will interpret their masterpieces and take time to fully appreciate Michelangelo’s magnificent frescoes at the Sistine Chapel.

After focusing on the highlights of the Vatican Museums, we will head to St. Peter’s Basilica and Square. It houses several other masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s “Pieta” and Bernini’s Papal Canopy. Learn about the life of Saint Peter and how this simple fisherman became one of the 12 apostles, a Pop and later a martyr whose remains are buried on the site of the Basilica, his tomb being its focal point.
