What To Expect
Fully immerse yourself in Ancient Rome on this half-day tour that breathes life into the ruins that dominate this city, as well as the emperors, gladiators, and slaves who dwelled - and fought - within them. Your adventure begins at the Colosseum; the Roman icon that has drawn visitors in their millions since it was built thousands of years ago. The Colosseum's enduring popularity is plain to see in the long lines of visitors that wait for hours under the hot Roman sun to enter, but with Skip the Line access you and your group of 25 people or fewer will sail past these queues and immediately begin exploring.
Your expert, English-speaking guide will not only lead you through these crumbling corridors but back through the ages; thrilling you with tales of the mock sea battles and gory executions that took place here, as well as the gladiatorial contests that drew thousands of spectators. With a personal headset ensuring you hear every word of your guide's enthralling commentary, it will be easy for you to imagine the Colosseum as it was - alive with energy and the roar of the excited crowd.
Follow your guide as they lead you from the Colosseum to the birthplace of Rome; Palatine Hill, where Romulus and Remus were found by the she-wolf who raised them and where Romulus built a city in his own name. Take in views of Nero's Circus Maximus, where furious chariot races were held, and admire the beauty of the Roman Forum before you descend to explore it in the company of your guide.
Skip past the entry line and find yourself in the centre of Ancient Rome, where traders lined the paved street, triumphant generals marched on the Via Sacra to celebrate their victories, and politicians gave passionate public speeches. Your guide will weave the story of Ancient Rome into these ruins, allowing you to imagine the masses bustling past you to conduct their business as they would have thousands of years ago. Learn about the Vestal Virgins and pay your respects to Caesar at the temple where he was cremated, before returning to present-day Rome.
