What To Expect
We'll depart for Naples by coach at around 07:30. Upon arrival, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical center to admire the Piazza Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Gallery of Umberto I and the San Carlo Opera House. Continue to Pompeii where you'll enjoy a short visit to a coral and cameo factory. Lunch in a typical Restaurant, followed by a visit of the excavations of this ancient Roman city. Proceed to the charming town of Sorrento, which is famous for the cultivation of oranges, lemons and olive trees. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
We depart for the island of Capri at around 08:00 after having an American buffet breakfast at the hotel. You'll board a ferry bound for Marina Grande and visit the Blue Grotto (weather permitting) and the Augustus Gardens. We'll also stop at the famous Piazzetta before heading to Anacapri in a minibus. After lunch in Anacapri, we return to Marina Grande where you'll board the ferry for your transfer back to Sorrento. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
You will be picked up at your hotel or at the meeting point in Sorrento at 07:30. We'll then depart for Apulia. Visit the Castellana Caves along the way which was discovered in 1938. The Grottos of Castellana are one of the most important attractions of Puglia and a natural heritage of inestimable value to Italy. Enjoy a unique guided tour of the caves to more than 60 meters deep. Free time for lunch and leisure will be provided. After the visit to the Caves, we continue out journey to Locorotondo where you'll enjoy a wine tasting at a local wine cellar. We will then head to the town of Alberobello, famous for its unique "Trulli" constructions. Proceed to Noci afterwards, followed by dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
We depart for Lecce after breakfast, which is famous for its baroque art and architecture developed between the end of the XVI century and the first half of the XVII century. Admire the rich and beautiful decoration
of the St. Oronzo Church, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Celestini Palace and the Roman Amphitheater. The tour continues to Gallipoli, which was derived from the Greek word "Kallipolis," meaning beautiful city. The fishing village located on the coast of southern Italy's Puglia region, is built on a limestone island and is linked to the mainland by a 16th century bridge. After some free time for lunch, we proceed to the village of Ostuni, which is also called "white town" because of its white walls and white painted houses. Return to the hotel in Noci. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel follows.
After breakfast, we depart for the town of Matera, which is internationally known for its "Sassi" or stones originating from prehistoric settlements. One of the peculiarities of this ancient city is that there is a great similarity with its ancient sites in and around Jerusalem, catching the eye of directors and movie studios. The Sassi has been the set of various films including "The Gospel according to St. Matthew," "King David," "The Passion of the Christ," and the "Nativity Story." Free time will be provided for a snack in Matera before we return via Pompeii, where you'll board a bus to Sorrento or Rome.
