What To Expect
Follow the railt racks of the Train to the Clouds, and discover the treasures of the monumental nature of the north region of Argentina, with its UNESCO site, the beautifulSeven Colours Hill, as well as the traditional towns that survive the trace of time such as Purmamarca and San Antonio de los Cobres.
You can choose between a traditional coach and, for the amateurs of adventure, the option with a 4WD vehicle is ideal! Embark yourself and let the ride start!
First, we will pick you up from the hotel in Salta, and we will take you through the legendary rail tracks of the Train to the Clouds. At the beggining it was built as a mean of transport to join Chile through the Andes and today, this incredible structure is one of the best ways to discover the stunning nature of the north of Argentina.
Explore the traditional town of Campo Quijano, also called the door of the Andes, because it is the start of the route that goes to the Puna. Following your itinerary, you will go up to 4000 meters above the sea level, and you will arrive to the town of San Antonio de los Cobres, in an exciting road of zig-zags.Admire as well the amazingTastil Ruins, rests of the south-American ancient history, and witnesses of the pre-Hispanic communities. It is said that it was already inhabited before the Inka Empire.
In the Puna, that sublime space of plateau in altitude in the central Andes, let yourself conquer by the calm of the environment, and stop the time as you explore the monumental desert and the traditional houses. The following highlight of the tour are the stunning Salt Fields, an immense salt desert, which colour contrasts with the oranges and reds of the imposing Pune. After that keep on climbing on board of your mini bus or 4WD up to 5.500 meters above the sea level, and discover the Nevado del Chani, this stunning mountain, that takes it's name from it's 5 thousand meters high from where it receives snow almost constantly. Then, don't miss the incredible panoramic views ofSlope del Lipan!
Finally, get familiar with the traditional (and still alive) town of Purmamarca: admire the beautiful hand-crafted textiles in the colourful local market, and take the opportunity to take back home your best souvenir of your visit to the North region of Argentina. Enjoy in the village some free time, and have a delicious traditional lunch in a local restaurant.
Before starting our way back, admire the most famous highlight of your tour: The Seven Colours Hill, famous for it's different colours, product of different mixes of mineral substances, and today part of the UNESCO world's heritage sites. After a quick stop, we will go back to Salta's city centre to take you back to your hotel.
